University Force Main Replacement Project (Maurice Ave. between 5th St. and 6th St.)
The University Force Main Project will replace approximately 800 lineal feet of 6-inch ductile iron sewer main on Maurice Ave. between 5th and 6th streets that was originally installed in 1960. The sewer main will be replaced with 8-inch PVC pipe that will significantly increase the pumping capacity of the University Lift Station. In recent years, particularly during University of Montana Grizzly football games, this lift station has only barely kept up with the incoming sewer flows, forcing City wastewater collections staff to carefully monitor each game and maintain sewer vacuum trucks at the ready in case a pump failure occurs.
