Citizen Academy

Citizens' Law Enforcement Academy

The Missoula Police Department has hosted a Citizens' Law Enforcement Academy (CLEA) since 1993 inviting local citizens, business owners, fraternal organization members, etc. to participate.

The 2020 session will begin on Jan. 15th, 2020. It will be held on Wednesday evenings from approximately 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will run for 8 weeks.

This academy includes an overview of our department's activities including presentations from officers about our many programs including, but not limited to:

In addition, we try to provide some hands-on applications for our participants including a ride-a-long with officers and a training simulator application.

Success

The response to the CLEA has been phenomenal, and we have had very positive feedback from our participants. This eight-week program has provided Missoula citizens with a realistic view of their Missoula Police Department's activities, challenges, and accomplishments.

Applications

We are no longer accepting applications at this time.  The response has been outstanding and we have received more applications than we have spots open.  We are currently in the process of reviewing the applications for acceptance into the academy.
