Missoula Neighborhoods
Every resident in Missoula has an opportunity to get involved in their Neighborhood Council and make a difference right where they live. Missoulians established Neighborhood Councils to strengthen and encourage participation in local government and to improve communication between residents and City officials.
The Missoula Neighborhoods office has been busy in the last few months! The new Neighborhoods Specialist, Kalina Wickham, joined Kelly Elam, Neighborhoods Coordinator, in January of 2022 and they both have been working on helping all 18 Neighborhood Leadership Teams to begin meeting more regularly. As we are coming into the summer months, more General Meetings will be happening in the various neighborhoods. The Neighborhood Improvement Grant Program recently finalized the FY22 grant awards for five (5) neighborhood improvement projects. This program works to support neighborhood participation and build opportunities for neighborhood communication, neighborhood-initiated projects and problem solving. Each year, the City Council allocates funds to this program and each successful grant recipient is awarded up to $6,000. The grant projects that have been awarded in FY22 are:
- 3rd Street Third Space, Riverfront Neighborhood: $5,500
- NSWS Public Art & Placemaking, Northside/Westside Neighborhood: $3,800
- Ninkpata Park Preliminary Plan, Farviews/Pattee Canyon Neighborhood: $5,300
- Call for Street Art, Lewis & Clark Neighborhood: $5,300
- Bonner Park Improvements, University District Neighborhood: $1,100
