Northside Traffic Calming Work Begins Monday, October 13, 2025
The City of Missoula Public Works & Mobility Department will begin installing new traffic calming features in the Northside neighborhood on Monday, October 13, 2025.
Crews will add a combination of stop signs and quick-build traffic circles to slow vehicle speeds, reduce cut-through traffic, and make streets safer for people walking, biking, and driving. Each installation will take about 20 minutes, and impacts to traffic should be minimal.
The project covers intersections between Scott Street, I-90, Orange Street, and the railroad tracks, including several designated Neighborhood Greenways. Work should be complete before winter weather arrives, weather permitting.
Community Benefits:
- Slower vehicle speeds make streets safer for everyone.
- Improved visibility at intersections where parked cars, trees, and landscaping make it hard to see.
- Encourages walking and biking by enhancing Neighborhood Greenways.
- Low-cost, quick-to-install approach helps deliver results faster.
