Construction Notice:
Phillips St - N Russell St to Bryon St

The City of Missoula Street Operations and Maintenance crews will begin a milling and paving project on Phillips Street starting Monday, October 20, 2025, weather permitting. Work will begin at Phillips Street and N. Russell Street and move west toward Byron Street.

The project will impact one block of Phillips Street. Crews plan to begin work on October 20, 2025, with completion expected by October 23. These dates are subject to change due to inclement weather conditions or other unforeseeable circumstances. Work hours are scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., during which that block of Phillips St will be closed to through traffic. Phillips St will be open to traffic after 5:00 p.m. during the project.

Milling and paving is a street maintenance process that involves using specialized equipment to remove the top layer of worn asphalt before applying a new, smooth layer of pavement. This “mill and overlay” technique helps extend the life of city streets by removing cracks and potholes caused by wear and water damage. The removed asphalt is then recycled and reused, making the process both cost-effective and environmentally responsible.

For the safety of workers and residents, please drive slowly and carefully around construction areas and use alternate routes, when possible, to avoid delays.
