Downtown Safety Access and Mobility

Traffic Impacts January 12 – 16 for Street Work Related to Downtown SAM Project

The City of Missoula is advising commuters of traffic impacts in downtown Missoula during the week of Jan. 12-16 due to street work related to the Downtown Safety, Access and Mobility (Downtown SAM) project.

Beginning on Monday, Jan. 12, the City of Missoula will conduct geotechnical investigations. The work will include drilling to collect subsurface soil samples, as well as other tests, to better understand the existing subsurface conditions. This information will help the project team with future design and construction activities.

Work will take place Monday through Friday, Jan. 12 – 16 at the following locations:

  • Higgins Avenue from Brooks to Broadway
  • The intersections of Front/Main/Orange and Front/Madison
  • The under-bridge play area adjacent to Beartracks Bridge.

Traffic disruptions are expected along Higgins Avenue between Broadway and Brooks Street. While full street closures are not expected, some lanes will be closed. Please be extra cautious when driving through this area as workers will be present and working in and around traffic.
