1. Can I have a stop sign installed on my corner?

There are specific requirements the City must follow in order to install a stop sign. Our Traffic Safety Team will study an intersection to determine the best treatment for that intersection. To report a traffic safety concern, please fill out and submit our Report a Traffic Safety Concern form. Sometimes, a better solution in residential neighborhoods is neighborhood traffic calming, which is the installation of physical devices that force traffic to drive more slowly in residential areas. 2. I need a "Slow Children at Play" sign in front of my house. Will the City install one?

These signs are not recognized in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), which the City must follow when installing any traffic control device. These types of signs are particularly ineffective for solving the conditions usually associated with this request. A better solution in residential neighborhoods is likely neighborhood traffic calming, which is the installation of physical devices that force traffic to drive more slowly in residential areas. 3. How can I get my neighbor to trim the hedge on the corner so I can see traffic?

If you notify the City of the problem and its location, the City will send a notice to the property owner requiring the hedge be cut and maintained in compliance with City ordinance. To request an inspection, please call Development Services at (406) 552-6630. Hazardous Vegetation

4. Can I get a sign for handicapped parking in front of my house?

Yes, all you need to do is to send a letter with this request to Traffic Services along with a note from your doctor stating that you are handicapped and a rough map of the area you would like designated. The location will be reviewed to ensure there are no conflicts. The sign will be installed at no charge to you. Traffic Services can be reached at (406) 552-6372.
