Kids and kids at heart are invited to join Missoula Parks and Recreation for Kidsfest 2012, a free summer celebration for Missoula youth, at Caras Park on Tuesday, July 31, 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Admission and most activities are free.

Kidsfest features a wide variety of interactive games, arts and crafts, educational booths, musical entertainment, the Parks and Recreation climbing wall, and mini-tennis, face painting, raffle drawing with great prizes, food and beverage vendors and many more fun activities for all ages. Kids can try their hands at everything from crafting recycled binoculars, to soccer skills, to bicycle obstacle courses and can even check out a sheriff’s car and rescue vehicle. Missoula Federal Credit Union is sponsoring the event along with U104.5 FM, who will be broadcasting live from Kidsfest.

Parking is very limited at Caras Park. Families may park at McCormick Park and walk across the Orange Street Bridge to Caras Park. For downtown parking options, visit Missoula Parking Commission. Families can also ride the Mountain Line downtown, kids ride free on the Mountain Line through August 31. Call Mountain Line at 406-721-3333 for route information.

  • Missoula Breastfeeding Coalition – nursing station
  • The Flagship Program – health and nutrition craft activity
  • St. Patrick Hospital – CATCH; hula hoops, active dice, nutritional education
  • Mismo Gymnastics - gymnastics obstacle course and performance
  • Tall Pines Chiropractic – interactive games
  • Missoula Figure Skating Club – small trampoline jumping
  • Missoula Smoke jumper Visitor Center – kid-sized smokejumper suit and fire experiments
  • Glacier Ice Rink – interactive hockey games
  • Missoula Tae-kwon-do Center – interactive Tae-kwon-do games
  • Missoula Bicycling Ambassadors – safe riding course and prize wheel
  • Missoula County Sheriff’s Office – Sheriff’s car and rescue vehicle
