Purpose
The purpose of the Missoula Urban Transportation District Board of Directors is to set policy for Mountain Line, Missoula’s public transit agency, and guide the agency in its vision to be an essential public transportation provider in the urban area and a major contributor to a multi-county, multi-modal transportation infrastructure in the western Montana region.
Goals
The MUTD board believes that our community can meet the goal of reducing Vehicle Miles Traveled by:
- Significantly increasing the use of public transit;
- Improving transportation options, thus reducing single occupancy vehicle dependence;
- Creating strong incentives for using modes of transportation that reduce traffic congestion and improve community health; and
- Building a network of partnerships dedicated to reducing vehicle miles traveled.
Members
- Seven members
- Four-year terms
Appointment
Three members are appointed by the
mayor, three members are appointed by the county commissioners and one member alternating city / county appointment.
Appointment by the mayor is subject to
City Council confirmation.
Qualifications
Qualifications include being a qualified elector and resident of the Missoula Urban Transportation District.
