Purpose
The Historic Preservation Commission is charged with establishing a local historic preservation program, integrating historic preservation into local, state and federal planning and decision-making processes.
The historic preservation program is designed to promote the preservation of historic and prehistoric sites, structures, objects, buildings and historic districts. The Historic Preservation Commission is formed of volunteers from Missoula's neighborhoods, businesses and preservation professionals, and was established by the Missoula City Council in 1989.
Members
- Eleven members, two alternates
- Two-to-three-year terms staggered
All Historic Preservation Commission members shall have a demonstrated interest, competence, or knowledge in historic preservation. Members shall serve as individuals, not as advocates for any specific jurisdiction, neighborhood, or association. The Historic Preservation Commission membership is set by MMC 20.90.030.
Appointment is by the City Council, unless specified by MMC 20.90.030.
