Special Olympics

The Event

Each year the Missoula Police Department partners with other local law enforcement agencies to carry the Special Olympics' Flame of Hope throughout the state. This event is the largest grassroot fundraiser in the country for Special Olympics. Around 85,000 law enforcement officers participate in this event annually.

Brief History

The Torch Run began in Montana in 1985. Montana law enforcement has raised over $4 million since then. Since 1999, Montana Torch Run has received 21 international awards.

The organization has now grown to serve over 3,000 athletes statewide and offers 13 sports with over 25 competitions year-round.
