Storm Damage To City Trees

Occasionally, severe weather may damage trees and down utility lines throughout the City.

  • The Urban Forestry Division is responsible for removing debris and hazards from City-owned trees ONLY.
  • If tree debris is near utility lines, please stay away and call Northwestern Energy at 1-888-467-2669.
  • Debris from trees on private property is the responsibility of the homeowner.
  • Garden City Compost is currently accepting tree waste, see hours and fees
  • No City-operated drop sites are available at this time.

City Tree Debris Report Form

Please use this form ONLY for debris from trees growing in City right-of-way, generally between sidewalk and curb

For boulevard trees located between sidewalk and curb

(And any public tree located in City right-of-way)

  • If tree debris is blocking the sidewalk or street, and you can safely move it to the boulevard, please do so. Report the debris here or phone 552-6253.
  • If tree debris is blocking the street and cannot be moved, please call 911.
  • Report trees with hanging or hazardous limbs to Parks and Recreation at 552-6253 weekdays from 9am to 3:30pm.
  • Property damage from City-owned trees: Please document the damage with photographs and phone 552-6253 to report the damage.

For trees located on private property

  • Debris from trees on private property is the responsibility of the homeowner.
  • If tree debris is blocking the sidewalk or street, and you can safely move it to the boulevard, please do so. Removal is the responsibility of the property owner.
  • If tree debris is blocking the street and cannot be moved, please call 911.
  • Garden City Compost is currently accepting tree waste, see hours and fees
